About Us

We are a community of people of different ages and backgrounds, brought together by a love for Jesus. We believe church is not just a series of meetings, but a diverse family worshipping God together and seeking to bring His good news to the city, the nation and the rest of the world.

Worship

We’re not excited by "religion", church-going, or just maintaining a programme. Instead, we are delighted to belong to God's Church 24/7 and thrilled to see people joining us on the adventure of following such an awesome God.

We are convinced of what the Bible says about the church. It tells us: From the beginning of time God has always wanted His own people — people who belong to Him, honour Him, and enjoy Him forever. We believe the church is God’s bride, his beloved; his hands and feet in this world.

Beginning
Sheffiled

We believe the church will be at the forefront of what God wants to do in Sheffield and we love playing our small part in that. The Church should be a living demonstration that Jesus Christ is very good news for everyone. So our desire is to be a benefit to the city in which we live, to be a church that reaches and includes people from every district of Sheffield, and which makes a name for God rather than ourselves.

This gets worked out in our four sites that meet across Sheffield, our kids and youth work, our community projects, and through our members looking to love others and share their faith in everyday life.

Values

There’s so much that we’re excited and passionate about. So much we value and live for. We’ve tied it down though to four main things.

— Being friends, enjoying God together
— Empowered by the Word and Spirit
— Bring the kingdom to where we are
— Reaching nations and making disciples

Our Values
City Church Leaders

Leaders

In the Bible we see elders are appointed to lead churches. They are also called shepherds or overseers and are given the task to look after and oversee all that happens in their church. At City Church we have six elders from all different walks of life.

We also have committed and faith-filled leaders who look after our Under 5s, primary school age, youth, students, and projects to help serve the people of Sheffield.

Joining Us

If you are familiar with our values and resonate with them, you might be ready to be part of the CCS community. We invite you to explore becoming a member, and part of that process involves being transparent about what you can anticipate from us and vice versa. Enrolling in a brief course named "Up Front" will facilitate this discussion about essential beliefs, and ensure you establish meaningful connections with a few elders. It will enable us to know that you are well-grounded in your journey as a disciple of Jesus alongside us.
You can tell an Elder on a Sunday that you are interested, or message us via the Contact form.
